Top level domain .NYC

.NYC

One of the things I've always liked about New York City is the way it has been able to grasp the big picture. From the Erie Canal, to the resevoir system, to Central Park, it takes care of business when it comes to securing its future. And that's the way it was in 2006 when it moved to acquire a place for itself on the Internet.

Recognizing that the fundamental medium for the foreseeable future was to be the Internet, and that it was in the city's interest to stake a vital position for itself, the city worked with its local institutions and cities around the globe to present a viable plan for operating .NYC.

Before the city developed the .NYC Top Level Domain, city events and resources were spread over more than a dozen TLDs, from .com to .us. But ever since, finding city events and resources has been a cinch. Join the effort to acquire the .nyc TLD at connectingnyc.org.
